3 Simple Ways to Measure Your Ring Size

Choose the method that works best with what you have at home. For the most accurate fit, we recommend trying two methods and comparing the results before selecting your ring size.

Method 1

Find Your Fit Using a Favorite Ring

This is one of the most reliable ways to find the right size, especially when choosing a surprise gift for someone special.

You’ll need a ring that fits you well and a ruler with millimeter measurements to find the right size.
  1. Choose a ring that fits the intended finger comfortably and place it flat on a surface.
  2. Measure the inside width of the ring in a straight line, from one inner edge to the opposite inner edge. This measurement in millimeters is your inside diameter.
  3. Enter this measurement into the Quick Size Finder above or match it with the size chart to find your ring size.
💡Tip. A digital caliper provides the most precise measurement, but a clear ruler with millimeter markings will work perfectly well.
Method 2

Measure Your Finger with String

Don’t have a ring nearby? All you need is a small piece of string or paper to measure your finger.

You’ll need a piece of string, thread, or a thin strip of paper, along with a ruler to measure your finger.
  1. Wrap the string snugly around the base of your finger where the ring will sit comfortably.
  2. Mark the point where the end of the string meets the remaining length.
  3. Place the string flat against a ruler and measure the length in millimeters. This measurement is your circumference.
  4. Enter that number into the Quick Size Finder above and select "mm around" from the menu.
💡Tip. Keep it snug, not tight. Pulling the string too firmly can result in a smaller size that may feel uncomfortable after wearing it for a while.

Complete US ring size chart

Every size from 3 to 13 is included, with quarter-size increments just the way we craft them. Match your measurement to the chart or search for your size directly.

US Size Diameter (mm) Circumference (mm)

Diameter is the straight-line measurement across the inside of the ring band. Circumference is the total distance around the inside edge. Both measurements are taken from the inner part of the ring.

Tips for the perfect fit

A few simple details can make all the difference between a ring that feels effortless and one that you notice throughout the day.

Measure at the end of the day

Your fingers naturally expand slightly throughout the day. Measuring in the evening helps ensure a comfortable fit from morning to night.

Measure the correct hand

Your dominant hand is often slightly larger than the other. Always measure the exact finger and hand where you plan to wear the ring.

Consider the band width

Wider bands, typically around 3mm or more, tend to feel tighter than slimmer designs. For wider rings, consider going up by a quarter to half a size.

Measure in a comfortable environment

Temperature can affect your finger size — cold conditions may make fingers smaller, while heat can cause slight swelling. Measure at room temperature for the most accurate result.

Between sizes? Choose the larger size

A slightly relaxed fit can be adjusted easily, but a ring that feels too tight may become uncomfortable. If you are between two sizes, selecting the larger option is usually the better choice.
